Kid Hawk
Robin Hawkins, aka Kid Hawk, is the son of legendary rocker, Rompin' Ronnie Hawkins.
Robin has spent more than 1/2 his life touring with his dad's bands, The Hawks, as well as opening for and backing some of music's giants including Levon Helm, Roy Orbison, Ray Charles, Oakridge Boys, Mel Tillis, Kris Kristofferson, just to name a few.
Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks tours have taken them to the far reaches of the globe, entertaining folks from all walks of life with featured spots of each individual band member.
Ronnie is known in the industry for bringing together some of the best musicians to form the Hawks. In fact, I have heard people refer to the HAWK as Canadian music royalty!
Robin learned at the young age of 15 that his position in his dad's band would have to be well earned to compete for the spot of rhythm guitar. This is made evident in Robin's work ethic and in his pursuit of the best players.
The Robin Hawkins Band has opened for Kim Mitchell, Pursuit of Happiness, the Spoons in recent years. Kid Hawk is clearly at ease on the stage whether it is a medium size bar or his favourite outdoor festival. In the past few years, Kid Hawk has performed at Stratford Music Festival, Festival of Lights in Peterborough, North Bay Blues Fest and many others.
Most recently, he produced his dad's latest Album, "Can't Stop Rockin",( the title song he also wrote),at David Foster's studio in Malibou,California.
Robin's music has been heard on many radio stations in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K.
On Aug.15/09, Kid Hawk rocked the 20th Anniversary of the Havelock Jamboree, opening for George Canyon, Jo Dee Messina and Randy Travis. The show was filled with original songs, which will soon be released, as well as a couple from his last C.D., Rebel With A Cause and as always, Kid Hawk ended the show with a fitting tribute to his famous dad, "Hey Bo-Didley".
Robin's shows are young country rock, high energy, bringing the crowd to their feet and he did not disappoint any of the ticket holders on Aug.15.
Robin was born in Toronto and raised in the Lakefield area, outside of Peterborough, Ontario; however, he has always carried a special place in his heart for his Arkansas roots and southern family!
Managed by Sue Hodder, of Stage Door Productions, Kid Hawk is here to stay!
